Pivot Zotamou, a 2014 scholarship award winner, won a research fellowship in San Diego. He spent the summer conducting research in a lab there with a mentor who showed him how to publish work in the scientific community. He recently presented his research at a local conference.
With help from a DHHS Alliance scholarship, Pivot is a pre-med student at Loyola University.
Ms. Golightly, who became very close to Pivot when she was his biology teacher at Digital Harbor, attended the presentation.
Pivot moved to the United States from Guinea with his family when he was a child. He hopes to become a doctor who treats Malaria in Africa.
Check out the video of Pivot sharing his story, his research and his goals.
